DTS Peering at Sydney Equinix Internet Exchange

From late April 2012 we will be peering over a Gbps connection to the Equinix Internet Exchange in Sydney. This will give us direct peering access to a number of ISP’s and content providers, including:

  • Akamai
  • Pacnet
  • Big Air
  • Google
  • iiNet
  • Internode
  • Limelight Networks
  • Microsoft
  • Orcon
  • TPG
  • and an absolute truckload of others….

This move is part of an overall strategy to increase domestic and international network capacity in anticipation of the increased demand the greater access speeds brought about by the NBN and UFB rollouts will bring. New Zealand does not offer the types of direct peering arrangements that are available in Australia, but in lieu of that option, DTS is utlising caches for content provided by the likes of Google and Akamai on a greater scale than ever before.

The net result of the increased capacity across our Australian and New Zealand networks will be an even greater experience for our clients, with the fastest possible speeds, multiple redundant paths to key content providers and lower costs of delivery that will ensure that we can keep offering great value for money.

Cheers,

Brendan Ritchie
